Nope. I am not a scary old lady living with my 13 cats in a haunted little cottage by the side of the deserted highway.
I just grew up in a really really old house at Gulshan with half a dozen stray cats, and ended up spending waaay too much time with the 6 cats, 13 guneapigs, one goat and the four chickens that shared our home. My elder sister, who is five years older than me, was going through puberty at that time and considered it beneath her to join me in exploring the patch of semi-wilderness right behind our house. So basically it was upto me and my brigade of cats to venture into the “wild land”. The guneapigs showed no inclination to step out beyond the green lawn, the goat was interested only in jackfruit leaves and the chickens were slaughtered the next day.
So having spent so much time with cats, its natural that I should develop a rather soft corner for cats. The only problem was, and still is, my mother – the Royal Evilness – who is scared, and by this I mean ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED – of furry little critters. Which led to the “No Cats/Dogs” embargo at home. But that was ok as long as I was living in Gulshan - not even the Royal Evilness could keep out the strays, and the six cats had a jolly time rolling about in the kitchen garden and pooping about everywhere!
However, once we moved to our new home in Baridhara (about 4 years ago), the cats opted to stay on at Gulshan. Baridhara, a dog dominated neighbourhood, just didn’t appeal to them.
So here I am. A 23-year old, harmless girl, living with ZERO cats in a not-so-haunted house by the side of the road. Blogging about – you guessed it – Cats.
I hate to tell you this…. but I’m allergic to cats.
AHA. Then Baridhara is just the place for you to live AND work!
